Výstava SOFT SYNC autorky Barbory Jurčovej (1999) prezentuje jej rozsiahlejší magisterský výskum, ktorý nedávno obhájila na VŠVU v Bratislave, čím sa stala čerstvou absolventkou Ateliéru APK+ pod vedením Antona Čierneho a Jaroslava Kyšu. Barbora Jurčová sa venuje intermediálnym projektom, v ktorých skúma témy tela a identity na rozhraní online a offline priestoru. Prostredníctvom rôznych médií – od analógových cez digitálne až po ich vzájomné kombinácie a presahy – narúša zaužívané hierarchie vnímania ľudskej podoby a vytvára environment, kde sa prelína biologické s digitálnym, fyzické s virtuálnym. Vo svojej umeleckej praxi kriticky nazerá na ego a nadradenosť človeka. Ten sa často javí ako krehký a hľadajúci si svoje miesto v rámci verejného priestoru a života. Jurčová skúma situácie a prostredia, ktoré ho obklopujú a formujú, ale ktoré i on spätne ovplyvňuje a snaží sa zanechať svoju stopu, vpísať sa do pamäte. Diela Barbory Jurčovej majú naratívny charakter s prvkami dystópie alebo utópie a rozohrávajú hru akejsi medzidruhovej komunikácie a spolunažívania, ktorá ústi do výzvy k rozmanitosti a prijatiu inakosti. Diverzitu autorka vníma ako prijateľný model fungovania budúcnosti, ale i dneška.
Intervencia vo výkladoch s názvom SOFT SYNC (Mäkká synchronizácia) zahŕňa tri videá, objekty a digitálne tlače. Ja je niekto iný/I is another je názov jedného z prezentovaných videí a zároveň výroku francúzskeho autora/poeta Arthura Rimbauda, ktorý zastrešil myšlienku celej výstavy. Citát „Ja je niekto iný“ sa často interpretuje ako výpoveď o plynulosti, mnohosti a fluidite identity. Túto ideu autorka pretavuje do výstavy, kde reflektuje pocit odcudzenia od vlastného ja. Prostredníctvom fiktívnych scenárov uvažuje o prepojení fyzického a digitálneho tela a otvára otázky, ktoré súvisia s aktuálnymi výzvami našej existencie, ale i neznámymi horizontmi budúcnosti.

The exhibition SOFT SYNC by Barbora Jurčová (b. 1999) presents an extension of her master’s research, which she recently defended at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (VŠVU), thus becoming a fresh graduate of the Studio of Intermedia – APK+ under the guidance of Anton Čierny and Jaroslav Kyša.
Barbora Jurčová works on intermedia projects that explore themes of the body and identity at the intersection of the online and offline realms. Through a variety of media – from analog to digital and their hybrid combinations – she disrupts established hierarchies of perceiving the human form and creates environments where the biological merges with the digital, and the physical intertwines with the virtual. In her artistic practice, Jurčová takes a critical look at the human ego and its sense of superiority. The human figure often appears as fragile, seeking its place within public space and life itself. Jurčová explores the situations and environments that surround and shape it – but which it, in turn, influences, leaving behind traces and inscriptions in collective memory. Her works carry a narrative quality, often infused with dystopian or utopian elements, unfolding as a play of interspecies communication and coexistence, which culminates in a call for diversity and the acceptance of otherness. The artist perceives diversity as a viable model for the functioning of both the future and the present.
The window intervention titled SOFT SYNC (Soft Synchronization) comprises three videos, objects, and digital prints. One of the presented videos, I Is Another (Ja je niekto iný), references a quote by French poet Arthur Rimbaud, which became the conceptual backbone of the exhibition. The statement “I is another” is often interpreted as an expression of the fluidity, multiplicity, and permeability of identity – an idea the artist translates into the exhibition through reflections on the feeling of alienation from one’s own self. Through fictional scenarios, she contemplates the connection between the physical and digital body, raising questions related to the current challenges of existence as well as the unknown horizons of the future.
