Praktická časť diplomovej práce má formu videa, v ktorom si predstavujem život vlastného digitálneho avatara. Ide o voľné nadviazanie na predchádzajúce video Ja je niekto iný (z letného semestra 2024), ktoré pre mňa predstavovalo osobný vstup do témy digitálnych tiel, ich pohybu a vedomia. Vychádzam z predstavy, že avatar je s nami počas života spätý, no po našej fyzickej smrti stráca priame prepojenie s realitou – čo ho paradoxne oslobodzuje. Oslobodený od identity pôvodcu môže začať existovať sám za seba – stať sa niekým, kým sme my nikdy neboli. Práca Soft Sync pozostáva z dvoch videí, ktoré sledujú avatarku Alex interagujúcu s dátovým prostredím. Spočiatku sa pohybuje po povrchu – má prístup k celej digitálnej stope svojho pôvodcu, no spravuje ju len ako archív bez osobného vzťahu. Jej skúsenosť je sprostredkovaná, pasívna, rámcovaná melanchóliou a pocitom odcudzenia. S cieľom nájsť pokoj a únik pred preťažením sa na podnet druhej, naratívnej postavy, vydáva na cestu dátovým tokom. Vo videu prepájam neosobné, digitálne, glitchujúce prostredia s fragmentami intimity. Hranice medzi vonkajším a vnútorným, medzi pamäťou a prostredím, sa stierajú. Počas tejto cesty sa mení aj samotná motivácia avatarky – začne si uvedomovať, že nie je len nositeľom cudzej identity, ale svojbytným digitálnym telom. Dielo tematizuje digitálnu existenciu ako priestor pre vznik alternatívnej subjektivity, ktorá už nie je spätá s biologickým telom, ale vyrastá zo samotného procesu synchronizácie, ponoru a interakcie s dátovým prostredím.

The practical part of the diploma thesis takes the form of a video in which I imagine the life of my own digital avatar. It loosely follows my previous video I Is Someone Else (from the summer semester of 2024), which represented a personal entry into the theme of digital bodies, their movement, and consciousness.I begin from the idea that the avatar remains connected to us throughout our life, but after our physical death, it loses its direct link to reality — which paradoxically liberates it. Freed from the identity of its originator, it can begin to exist on its own — to become someone we ourselves have never been.
The work Soft Sync consists of two videos that follow the avatar Alex interacting with a data environment. At first, she moves across the surface — having access to the entire digital footprint of her originator, yet managing it only as an archive, without personal attachment. Her experience is mediated, passive, framed by melancholy and a sense of alienation. Seeking peace and an escape from overload, she embarks — prompted by another, narrative character — on a journey through the data flow. The video connects impersonal, digital, glitching environments with fragments of intimacy. The boundaries between the external and internal, between memory and environment, begin to blur. Over the course of this journey, the avatar’s motivation also shifts — she starts to realize that she is not merely a bearer of someone else’s identity, but an autonomous digital body. The work explores digital existence as a space for the emergence of an alternative subjectivity — one that is no longer bound to a biological body, but arises from the very process of synchronization, immersion, and interaction with the data environment.
